Richard Dimbleby, a pioneer of radio and television broadcasting died of cancer in 1965 at the age of 52. On his death, this fund was created as a memorial.
The result is a fund now valued at over £11 million. We support research laboratories and a professorship at King's College London and a cancer care and information service at St Thomas' Hospital in London, where Richard Dimbleby was treated. Our income is now shared between research and cancer care.
We are acutely aware of the shortfall in care and information services in Britain and want to encourage this work alongside research into the causes and cure of cancer itself.
